Riverhead Police report the arrest last night of a Level 3 Sex Offender for failure to register and verify as required by the State Sex Offender Registration Act.

Police charge homeless man in April 22 burglary of East Main Street laundromat

A 29-year-old homeless man was arrested on a burglary charge by Riverhead Town Police today in connection with his alleged theft of cash from an East Main Street laundromat April 22, according to a police press release.

Riverhead Town Police reported 165 criminal incidents and 103 arrests in April 2023, according to a monthly crime report released by Police Chief David Hegermiller this month.

Riverhead Police charge two men in attempted robbery of liquor store Saturday night

One of the men arrested in the attempted holdup is a parolee released from prison in March on a prior attempted robbery conviction. The other man was found to be in possession of a stolen debit card and was additionally charged with Grand Larceny and Possession of Stolen Property offenses.

Garbage truck crash closes West Main Street

West Main Street is closed between Marcy Avenue and Mill Road this morning due to an accident involving a garbage truck just east of the intersection with Mill Road.
